Water Boil Alert Cancelled for Laramba (Napperby)
Monday 31 March 2008
The Laramba (Napperby) water supply is once again safe to drink.
The Department of Health and Community Services (DHCS) has lifted the Precautionary Advice for Drinking Water (Water Boil Alert) for Laramba (Napperby) after samples from the community’s water supply were confirmed today as being free of any harmful bacteria.
Director of Environmental Health, Xavier Schobben said the water boil alert was issued on 28 March 2008, as monthly samples taken from the community identified the presence of E.coli. The bacteria are an indicator of faecal pollution and the possible presence of other harmful bacteria.
“Power Water Corporation ensured maximum disinfection occurred, which killed any bacteria that had been present.
“I am confident that the actions taken and steps put in place will ensure that any future potential public health risks are greatly minimised.”
