While Royal Darwin Hospital is a public hospital funded by the Northern Territory Government, it receives strong support from corporations and the community.

Through the Hospital's Management Board, many donations are received, large and small and all have an enormous benefit for the patients … and the staff.

There are one-off donations - either of equipment or cash - and there are also those who provide support and sponsorship on an ongoing basis. These sponsors are indeed a valuable part of the Royal Darwin Hospital family and have a major impact on the wellbeing of patients and staff.

We take this opportunity to thank all sponsors of Royal Darwin Hospital.

Royal Darwin Hospital Auxiliary

The members of the Hospital's Auxiliary are a tireless band of workers who stage a number of events each year to raise money for the hospital. A major event on their fund raising calendar is the annual fashion parade, held at Government House.

Sick children have a Fresh Future thanks to Woolworths

In the last three year's, Woolworths has raised more than $73,000 for sick children at Royal Darwin Hospital. Prior to this, it was a major sponsor of the Emergency Department fundraising more than $30,000. Woolworths generosity has allowed Royal Darwin Hospital to purchase much-needed equipment for both our General Paediatric and Isolation Paediatric wards this has included sofa beds to allow parents to sleep in relative comfort while they stay with their children.

The latest project funded Woolworths Fresh Future Children's Hospital Appeal is a parents' room on Ward 5B. This area will allow parents to enjoy some quiet time away from the general activity of the ward. It is expected to open in July 2006.

Bechtel give smallest patients a good start in life

Employees at Bechtel were generous donors to the Special Care Nursery in 2005. The workers and the company donated more than $31,000 to the nursery.
The donation was used to purchase an infant flow driver which assists babies to breathe, a CO2 monitor to ensure that when a baby is intubated the tubes are in the correct position and a mobile blood and gas monitor which can also be used in the transport of very sick and premature babies when they are flown south.
