transport & public transport areaswhere is smoking not permitted?
- All
public or hired transport is nonsmoking from 1 January 2003.
- This
includes taxis, private hire cars, buses, minibuses, aircraft, vessels, and trains.
- Smoking
is not permitted whether passengers are present or not.
- All public
transport related areas are nonsmoking from 1 January 2003 such as ticketing areas,
luggage check in and return areas and public transport waiting areas.
- Transport
interchange terminals will be completely nonsmoking.
- All train platforms
will be completely nonsmoking.
- Designated taxi ranks (where indicated
by a sign) are nonsmoking. If you are queuing for a taxi at a designated rank,
you are not allowed to smoke.
- Bus stops and ferry terminals where
there is a structure (ie a shelter) will be nonsmoking.
- Thoroughfares
(includes corridors, stairways, foyers and lobbies) and service/amenity areas
(such as toilets, shower blocks, changing rooms and waiting areas) of public transport
areas are nonsmoking from 1 January 2003.
- Food service areas of public
transport areas are nonsmoking.
exceptions
- Bus stops
where there is just a post at the roadside are not covered by the rule.
- Depending
on the rental company's policy, rental cars may allow smoking.
