educational facilities

where is smoking not permitted?

  • Buildings and grounds of childcare centres and educational facilities are smokefree from 1 January 2003.
  • This applies to early childhood, primary and secondary educational facilities.
  • Domestic homes are nonsmoking when they are being used to provide commercial childcare.

exceptions

  • Childcare centres and schools may nominate an outdoor area, concealed from view of children in which staff can smoke.
  • Smoking is permitted in domestic homes used for commercial childcare at times when it is not being used for that purpose. Smoking is also permitted outside
