access areaswhere is smoking not permitted?
- Enclosed
common areas used by the public are nonsmoking from 1 January 2003.
- This
includes areas used by the public as thoroughfares to move to another area, or
to access a service or amenity.
- Some venues or buildings will be able
to allow smoking in specific areas (see below) but must make sure their areas
of common access are nonsmoking.
- Thoroughfares including corridors,
stairways, lobbies and foyers are covered by this rule and are nonsmoking from
1 January 2003.
- Services and amenities used by smokers and nonsmokers
such as toilets, shower blocks, waiting areas, and changing rooms must be nonsmoking.
Remember:
If an enclosed area is used by the public to move to another area, or to access
a service or amenity, it is a nonsmoking area from 1 January 2003.
