| The NT Departments of Health
and Community Services and Employment,
Education and Training invited you
to contribute to the development of a Vision for
Territory children from conception
to twelve years or so, and a new children’s policy framework to help achieve
this vision earlier this year. The consultation
report is available here for download. The intention was to support families
and develop opportunities for children through
a collaborative and better-integrated
approach to planning and providing services
and activities over the next few
years. The proposed policy framework provided a common reference for the many
different people involved in this area, and a basis
for more specific action.
For more information, two separate documents are also available:- Caring
for Territory Children - from the 70s to the new millennium - provides
background on the development of services for children in the NT over the last
20-30 years. What do
we understand about young children? - conclusions drawn from recent
literature
and experience - provides a brief description of current understandings
about
children’s care, development and learning.
