All health workers registered with the Territory’s Aboriginal Health Workers Registration Board are eligible and awards include : Remote, Urban, Specialised, New Practitioner, and the honoured overall ‘Excellence’ Award.
We can take pride in our many achievements in health, including being at the forefront of Aboriginal Health Work practice in Australia.
The Aboriginal Health Worker structure examples our continuing efforts to build a unique, flexible, culturally appropriate, and locally grown health workforce, built on innovation and excellence. The new AHW Apprentice scheme that was launched this year attracted a record 27 apprentices is another example of our continuing efforts to build and support this valuable workforce.
