Internal Audit Services

 

The primary role of the internal audit service is to provide management of the Department of Planning and Infrastructure with assurances in the following areas:

 

What we do:

  • be an effective aid in meeting the governance objectives of executive management and the audit committee;
  • be focused upon key business and strategic risks and recognises the importance of appropriate levels of internal control;
  • be independent of operational management;
  • demonstrate a good understanding of the values, goals and business objectives of DPI;
  • be committed to risk based audit techniques;
  • be objective in its opinions and recommendations for process improvement;
  • to operate in a manner which provides confidence in its findings and reports;
  • to be committed to effective & ongoing communication with all levels of staff;
  • undertake duties associated with being the Executive Officer and member of the Internal Audit Committee;
  • to be the contact officer between the department and the Office of the Auditor-General, and facilitate audits conducted by the Auditor-General;
  • facilitate audits conducted by external service providers;
  • conduct investigations, reviews and audits as directed by the Audit Committee.
