"OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY POLICY "


The Darwin Port Corporation will make every effort to provide a safe and healthy workplace for all its employees, contractors and third parties who are impacted by our business activities, and will strive to protect property and equipment from damage. The Corporation will provide and encourage the participation of every person in achieving a healthy and safe workplace.

The Corporation endorses the principle that health and safety must be an integral part of all its processes and operations. It accepts that no job is given such urgency, or importance, that personal safety is set aside to achieve it.

The Corporation's obligation, and the responsibility of all its employees, to report or rectify any unsafe conditions, promotes safe working practices and encourages the adoption of safe work habits.

The Corporation will commit to continual improvement in its health and safety performance, and aspire to a goal of zero harm to its employees.

The Corporation expects its employees to take every reasonable care for their own health and safety and that of others in the workplace. They will use all safeguards and safety equipment provided, and will report all accidents, injuries, near misses, incidents and unsafe conditions to their supervisors immediately.

The Corporation will endeavour to secure the effective rehabilitation of any employee who may suffer an injury arising out of, or incurred during, the course of their employment. The Corporation will not knowingly continue to employ any person who willfully violates health and safety procedures, or endangers themselves, and others.

The Corporation will ensure that its managers and supervisors are responsible for ensuring that employees receive training in safe work practices and that the Corporation's health and safety standards are applied to all its employees, contractors and visitors to its workplace.
