The Darwin Wharf Precinct enhances the general tourism experience in so many ways. For local people, it provides a bustling, exciting harbourside area where they can walk and relax, shop, dine and drink, go fishing in safety and comfort, meet friends and see the many different types of vessels that utilise the wharf's facilities.

For interstate visitors, the Precinct provides the kind of experience that is expected of a major port city. By effectively separating industrial and commercial shipping from cruiseships, pleasurecraft and small fishing vessels, the Darwin Port Corporation - owners of the Darwin Wharf Precinct - have provided a place of great interest where visitors can see a busy port in action while enjoying the clean, friendly, cosmopolitan environment created by a publicly-available precinct.

Our contribution to national tourism - and indeed to international tourism - is made every time a cruiseship docks in Darwin. By providing a warm and welcoming environment right on the harbourside, plus an enormous selection of tourism-related activities, we believe we are acting as ambassadors for Australia and enhancing the visitor's impression of our country.

In its first ten years of operation, the Darwin Wharf Precinct has become a very important part of the city as well as a place to be remembered fondly by cruiseship passengers from around the world.
