Advisory Board

Under the Darwin Port Corporation Act, an Advisory Board has been established. The function of the Board is to advise the Port Corporation on its activities and the manner in which it carries out its activities with a trade development focus.

The Advisory Board members are appointed by the Minister for Transport and Infrastructure.

 

Board Members

Chairman – Mr David Looker

David was appointed Chairman of the Darwin Port Corporation Advisory Board in February 2006

David has an extensive career background in International shipping and logistics and has worked with Jardine Matheson and Company Ltd; ANL Limited; Wallenius Wilhelmsen Lines ; and is currently a Director of the Australian arm of leading Hong Kong based bulk ship owner/operator Pacific Basin Shipping .

During his career David has lived and worked extensively in Asia ( Japan, Hong Kong , Singapore and China); USA, and in Europe . In addition to the senior management roles David held he has been extensively involved at various times in bi lateral business councils and in London chaired ABIE ( Australian Business in Europe). David grew up in Adelaide and holds a B.Ec .( Hons) from Flinders University , South Australia.

Member – Linda Mackenzie

Mrs Linda Mackenzie, Assistant Under Treasurer (Commercial) has been nominated as the NT Treasury representative on the Darwin Port Corporation Advisory Board. Linda has a Bachelor of Commerce with first class honours in finance and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia. In her role as Assistant Under Treasurer (Commercial) Linda has responsibility for the commercial group that comprises the Capital Financing Division, Treasury Corporation, the Superannuation Office and Procurement Policy.

Linda was appointed Assistant Under Treasurer in February 2003 and previously held the positions of Senior Director Capital Financing (from 1999) and Director Capital Financing (from 1998 when she joined NT Treasury).

Linda previously worked in the Corporate Financing and Leasing Division of Macquarie Bank Limited in Sydney on structured finance transactions.

Linda was previously a Director (April 2000 - March 2002) of Darnor Pty Ltd and Gasgo Pty Ltd (subsidiary companies of the Power and Water Corporation).

Member - Bruce Fadelli

Bruce Fadelli has had over 35 years experience with businesses in the NT and Asia in Civil and Building Construction, Road and Rail Transport and International Trade. In January 2001 he was made a Member of the Order of Australia. The citation is "for service to the development of business relations between Australia and Indonesia". Mr Fadelli is also a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

He was appointed to the Board in December 2004.

Mr Fadelli has been involved with the NT Chamber of Commerce committees since 1975 and in 2000 was elected NT President serving a four-year term. In 2004 Bruce was elected to the National Board of the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Canberra.

Mr Fadelli has also participated on a number of Federal and NT government Committees such as the Small Business Committee and Superannuation Choice Committee in Canberra, Honorary, Representative of the NT Government in Indonesia, Team NT - Gas on Shore, the Adelaide to Darwin Railway- Local Industry and Aboriginal Participation Plan and the Quarantine Import Export Advisory Committee.

Member – Peter Youens

Peter Youens has over 30 years experience in the Australian and international engineering, construction project management sectors applicable to resources and infrastructure industries including the holding of senior and executive positions covering marketing and business development, general management, director and managing director roles for public and private companies.

Currently Peter is a Principal and Director of Flagstaff Consulting Group Pty Ltd, a management consulting organization providing specialist consulting services in the infrastructure, mining and resources sectors. He was appointed to the DPC Advisory Board in June 2008.

During his career he has gained significant experience of the local and international engineering, infrastructure and resources industries, together with experience in the management and governance of major resource and infrastructure focused organizations. He has direct experience of the business and commercial environment in China, South East Asia, the Middle East, Europe and North America.

Peter holds a BSc from the University of the Southbank, London, is a Chartered Professional Engineer, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers Australia.

Member– Robert Ritchie

Mr Ritchie commenced as Chief Executive Officer of the Darwin Port Corporation in May 2007.

Robert has been in the industry over thirty years and held various financial and management positions in Brisbane, Sydney and Stockholm. He has worked for container lines, stevedores, general agencies and RoRo operators.
