NT WorkSafe

Who Are We?

NT WorkSafe is the administrative and regulatory arm of the Northern Territory Work Health Authority - the statutory body established under the Workplace Health and Safety Act.

NT WorkSafe is responsibile for the Territory-wide regulation of occupational health and safety, dangerous goods, electrical safety, and rehabilitation and workers' compensation.

What Do We Do?

NT WorkSafe works with you by:

  • setting the safety standards to ensure you meet your responsibilities under the law;

  • explaining and interpreting laws and standards and by providing you with guidance materials; and

  • helping you meet your responsibilities through workplace visits, advice, audits and inspections.

It is NT WorkSafe's job to ensure that you comply with the law. We usually achieve this through our routine workplace visits. Sometimes it results from a complaint or an accident investigation or as a result of us reviewing our records of licenses, plant registrations and insurance policies.
