Building a Better Future for Young Territorians

Building a Better Future for Young Territorians, the Northern Territory Government's Youth Policy Framework guides the delivery of programs and services to young people aged 12 to 25 years.

The framework contains key principles that have been developed to underpin policies, programs and service delivery for young people. These principles are:

  • Respect;
  • Diversity;
  • Access;
  • Empowerment;
  • Equity; and
  • Co-ordination.

The framework comprises five key directions to guide service delivery to young people and identifies priority actions against each direction. The directions are:

  • Improve young people's health and well being.
  • Improve access to education and employment for young people.
  • Provide more opportunities for young people to have fun and develop new skills.
  • Make sure that young people are able to participate in decisions that affect their lives.
  • Create communities where young people can feel safe and secure.

Thanks to the many young Territorians, youth and community organisations and Northern Territory Government agencies that contributed to the development of the framework.
