Youth Development Programs

Feel like learning a new skill? Want to do your bit to help save the world or perhaps you would just like to make some new friends? Problem solved! Just join a community or interest group. Below are just some of the sites to many of the organisations that would love to hear from you.

  • Rotaract Club of Darwin - provides an opportunity for young men and women to enhance the knowledge and skills that will assist them in personal development.
  • The Penguin Club of Australia – this is a public speaking club for women.
  • YMCA – The YMCA encourages participants to grow in body, mind and spirit. Click here for more information.
  • Duke of Edinburgh’s Award – Fun, friends and forging new skills? Get it all with the Duke's mob.
  • Australian Youth Ambassador – be an Australian Youth Ambassador and be posted on development assignments throughout the Asia Pacific region.
  • Girl Guides provide a non-formal education program that is a dynamic, flexible and values-based training in life skills, decision-making and leadership, run by trained volunteer Leaders committed to helping girls and young women grow into confident, self-respecting, responsible community members.

This section highlights some developmental programs available to young Territorians. Youth Development Programs target different ages and focus on different areas. Some of these areas include adventure, arts/theatre, communication, community service, leadership, peer development, self-esteem, sport, survival skills and team work.

Whilst every effort has been made to provide current and accurate information on the programs included here, prospective participants are encouraged to contact the program organisers directly. Contact details have been provided for each program. If the program you are interested in is not located within your area, please do not hesitate to contact the organisation to find out whether similar programs are conducted in your area.
