Looking for work is never an easy thing. Whether you're looking for casual or full-time employment in retail or showbiz, you can find something useful at the following links. Most of these sites even allow you to promote yourself on the internet.

How to find your dream job and snag it!

  • NTG Jobs - If you fancy working for the NT Government.
  • Defence Recruitment - If you are after a job in the defence force, this is the place to go.
  • My Future - This is a collection of resources, provided by the Commonwealth Department of Education, Science and Training, to assist career exploration and decision- making, job search preparation, and career-related education and training. Ths collection is organised in a number of sections, to provide access to career guides, occupations' information, career education in schools, colleges and universities, professional resources and more.
  • Getting a Job - This booklet is a useful guide if you are completing schoo, considering career options or searching for your first job. It can be used by you or as part of a group.
  • Job Juice - The Australian JobSearch team at the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations have created this employment portal specifically aimed at young people. The site includes the JobSearch search engine, links to mycareer, an online career quiz helping young people discover a career, and a resume builder!
  • Job Guide - Career planning for young people aged 15 to 20 years, primarily school leavers and people registered with centrelink.
  • Career One - To help you find the job for you, Career One offers 'Resume Builder'. Resume Builder helps you compile and design your resume online, in a format that suits you. Best of all, you can access and update it anytime!

  • Centrelink - Information on benefits available to young people.

  • Seek - This site has a Virtual Interviewer that will shape up for that important job interview as well as on-line career coaching and job searches. Worth checking out.
  • Careers Online - If its international fame and excitement you seek than this is the link for you. There are jobs on offer here from all over the world accessible through 250 job search engines.
  • IT Skills Hub - this site brings together some of the best resources and expertise in Australia's IT industry. The IT Skills Hub provides information and resources on education, training, development and services for anyone interested in IT. There's also a Youth Hub with information specifically for young people. So if you're interested in a career in IT, check out this site!

Don't get ripped off!

In April, federal Workplace Ombudsman Nicholas Wilson launched a new fact sheet to inform young people about their workplace rights. The
fact sheet, 'Don't get ripped off!' covers topics such as workplace
agreements, correct rates of pay, holiday entitlements and tips on
what to expect when finishing up with an employer. To download the

  • Idea Cafe - An incredible source of business information and advice, written in simple to understand terms. Helpful advice on financing, marketing and human resources.
  • Inc Com - Great reading for business owners. This website has tools to help you in every area of your business.
