The recipients of the Tribute to Northern Territory Women are announced for International Women's Day, 8 March, each year. The women honoured in the Tribute are being commemorated in several ways.

Each year a set of posters, and linked displays, will be created to form a portable Tribute exhibition. These artworks will be designed around a common theme, to celebrate each of the recipients. The posters celebrating the recipients will be displayed at the Tribute to Northern Territory Women announcement, and will tour in regional areas throughout the following year, to enable all Territorians to have access to the women's fascinating stories.

A set of brass plaques featuring portraits of the 2003 recipients has been cast to commemorate the inaugural Tribute . The plaques have been placed in the grounds of the National Pioneer Women's Hall of Fame in Alice Springs.

In Darwin a commemorative Pathway has been created in Damoe-Ra Park, which is situated on the Esplanade opposite Parliament House. Damoe-Ra Park is a fitting venue for the Tribute pathway. It was a central and essential site for the traditional inhabitants, the Larrakia people, and the early European settlers. Damoe-Ra was named by Larrakia elder Topsy Secretary, referring to a natural spring located a little further north, on Lameroo Beach. In 1992 it was chosen as the site to commemorate the significant role women have played in the Northern Territory.

Territory women artists are responsible for the design and development of all Tribute features.
