Tribute to Northern Territory Women

The Tribute to Northern Territory Women was initiated in 2002 for International Women's Day, to give Territorians the opportunity to recognise, celebrate and commemorate the achievements of outstanding Northern Territory women and their contribution to the economic, social and cultural life of Territorians.

Minister for Women’s Policy Marion Scrymgour announced the 2008 Tribute to Northern Territory Women recipients at a function in Alice Springs on Friday 7 March.

The recipients of the 2008 Tribute to NT Women are:

Lesley Reilly
for her contribution to improving the lives of community members through long term advocacy for social justice.
Mrs Wallace
for her contribution as an inspirational role model and for improving the lives of children in her community.
Glenda McCarthy
for her involvement and contribution to youth in the Territory community.
Susan Hutton
for her contribution to improving the lives of Indigenous children and as an inspirational role model in the field of science.
Eliza Tuckwell
for the challenges that she overcame as a pioneer and her involvement and contribution to the Territory community.
