Protocol is the framework of rules and procedures which have evolved over the centuries to ensure that the conduct of international and state political, cultural and economic exchanges are carried out with dignity, efficiency and security.
The Protocol Unit is responsible for the provision of a wide range of protocol advice and support activities. These include providing the Northern Territory Government with advice on protocol and hospitality matters; assistance in arranging and hosting ceremonies and functions; support for visiting delegations and dignitaries; and support in delivering programs such as the Territory Day and Territorian of the Year Awards and the coordination of Northern Territory Bravery Award nominations.
The Unit also assists the Northern Territory Government maintain effective Consular and Diplomatic Corps relationships.
