Management Services
Management Services works to support and improve the capacity of the Department in delivering strategic objectives. The unit provides a broad range of corporate services and advice to ministerial offices, business units and associated entities of the Department.
The unit provides Procurement and Office Services, Financial Services and Information Services. These services support the day to day operations of all business units and associated entities of the Department as well as building the capacity to support the machinery of Government.
Management Services also provides support to the AustralAsia Railway Corporation, Northern Territory Major Events Company Pty Ltd, and the Australia Day Council.
Procurement and Office Services
Procurement and Office Services provides a broad range of procurement and office services to support the day to day business of the department’s units, build on the capacity of our organisation and our people, and support the machinery of government.
Key priorities for Procurement and Office Services are:
- Provide procurement support to departmental units and Ministerial offices
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies
- Provide office services support to departmental units and Ministerial offices
Key responsibilities include:
- Provision of procurement, telecommunications, assets, security, office accommodation, vehicle fleet services and accountable forms
- Maintaining accurate records and reports for contract and general procurement, security, telecommunications, accountable forms, assets and vehicles
- Advice and assistance to staff on contract and procurement procedures
- Office accommodation including renovations, relocations and cleaning
- Vehicle fleet maintenance
- Security including access and patrols
- Telecommunications including landlines, mobile phones and internet
- Assist DCIS with asset management and control
- Procurement training for all departmental staff
Financial Services
Financial Services provides a broad range of financial management services to support the day to day business of the department’s units, build on the capacity of our organisation and our people, and support the machinery of Government.
Key priorities for Financial Services are:
- Support Executive and units with advice and assistance on financial, budget, business and planning related issues
- Monitor and analyse budgets and actual expenditure
- Work to improved performance management framework in accordance with Working with Outcomes initiatives
- Continue to implement accrual accounting principles
Key responsibilities include:
- Financial and accounting management support
- Budget management, development and monitoring support
- Output performance management
- Legislative compliance
- Funds and debt management
- External reporting obligations, including quarterly performance reporting and annual financial reporting
- Estimates Committee information preparation and participation
- Chart of accounts administration
- Financial project management
- Liaison with NT Treasury
- Tax obligations
- A range of other accountability requirements
Information Services
Information Services provides a broad range of information management services to support the day to day business of the department’s units, build on the capacity of our organisation and our people, and support the machinery of government.
Key priorities for Information Services are:
- Support Executive and units with advice and assistance on information and records management related issues
- Expand the use of the TRIM records management system
- Support and develop programs to help the department to meet its compliance obligations under the Information Act and the Records Management Standards for the Northern Territory Government
- Train staff in records and information management.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provision of a registry and records management service
- Management of secondary storage and archived records
- Administration and auditing of the TRIM records management system
- Legislative compliance
- Training and development
- Thesaurus and Retention and Disposal Schedules
- Liaison with the Northern Territory Archives Service
- Records management projects including those addressing legacy records, permanent archives and Electronic Document Management
- Requests under the Information Act
- Whole-of-government freedom of information access reports
- Advice and guidance to staff on records management, information privacy and freedom of information issues
- Mail and courier service.
