Finance and Procurement

Finance and Procurement of the Department of the Chief Minister and the Office of the Commissioner for Public Employment assists to achieve their Strategic Objectives by providing a range of high quality, strategic accounting and support services to both Departments, as well as fulfilling external reporting requirements.

Finance and Procurement meet clients’ needs by providing efficient, effective financial accounting and procurement services that comply with the Financial Management Act, Treasurer’s Directions, Procurement Act and relevant Government guidelines.

The Finance Unit provides strategic and operational advice, reports and support on financial and budget related issues to the Department’s Business Units.  Financial administrative support is also provided to the Office of the Commissioner for Public Employment, Waterfront Corporation, Australia Day Council, Northern Territory Major Events Company Pty Ltd and NT Build.

The Procurement Unit provides the Department with strategic and operational advice on procurement activities as well as providing a central processing and contact point with DCIS and the Procurement Review Board.

Key priorities are:

  • ensure that the financial performance of DCM and OCPE is above reproach;
  • provide accurate, timely and relevant advice and services to staff;
  • provide professional financial management support in budgeting and expenditure management to DCM and OCPE, and its officers;
  • provide high quality, efficient and effective accounting services; and
  • provide expert procurement advice and guidance to staff to ensure compliance with government policy and direction.
