To assist in the development of the NT ICT Industry, one of the priority actions identified in the Government's Economic Development Strategy for the Northern Territory, Building a Better Territory, was to; ".develop a broad intellectual property (IP) policy that will facilitate the commercialisation of locally developed software". One of the objectives of this policy is to seek benefits to the NT through development in the NT ICT industry, especially where potential export $'s and licence and/or royalty payments are possible.
DBE was tasked to develop this policy and the project started in 2004.
One of the objectives of the new policy is to enhance opportunities for the ICT industry by allowing for the assignment or licensing of NT Government Software IP to third parties. To help implementation of this policy DBE is required to develop, publish and maintain a register of NTG owned software IP. The attached spreadsheet lists a number of ICT applications containing NTG owned IP available for assignment or licensing.
For additional information regarding the applications in the register please contact the relevant Agency IT Director. For information regarding applications for assignment or licensing of NTG owned software please call the NT ICT Industry Development Manager on (08) 89243839.
