​The Department of Business and Employment (DBE) operates four regional and 10 remote training centre facilities to assist and support regional and remote communities in accessing vocational training programs. The regional centres are in Katherine, Jabiru, Tennant Creek and Nhulunbuy. For information about remote training centres, including locations and facilities, contact your nearest regional training centre.

DBE staff in regional centres can:

  • provide information on courses being delivered at regional and remote training centres
  • assist communities and organisations to identify their training needs and develop training plans
  • provide information on training organisations and the training programs they are approved to deliver
  • assist communities and organisations to access DBE funding to support their training needs
  • provide rooms and equipment for the delivery of training courses.

Funding for community training

DBE provides Indigenous people living in urban, regional and remote communities with an opportunity to access Vocational Education and Training (VET).

Indigenous Responsive Program

Indigenous Responsive funding specifically targets Indigenous people, for delivery of accredited and non-accredited training that links to work-ready or employment on site in Indigenous communities. Training partners

  • Registered training organisations (RTOs) are approved by relevant state/ territory recognition authorities to deliver nationally recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualifications and programs.

Student support

DBE does not provide childcare support, transport for students or wage support for participants attending training courses funded by DBE.
