Workforce NT Report 2004

Welcome to the first edition of the Workforce NT Report.

This report is a baseline report providing government, industry and the community with detailed information about the labour market across the NT. It is linked to current government strategies, which will help to develop a skilled workforce for the future prosperity of the Territory. It should be used in conjunction with future Workforce NT reports.

The 2004 Workforce NT Report provides information about:

  • The Territory's population and how it compares with the Australian population.
  • Which occupations and industries Territorians work in.
  • The employment, education and skills profile of Territorians.
  • The employment status of disadvantaged groups such as Indigenous people and people with a disability.
  • Regional comparisons - how the NT's regions differ in their employment and other characteristics.
  • Skill shortages - which professions and trades are experiencing skill shortages in the NT.
  • Major projects in the NT and their likely impact on employment.
  • The outlook for economic and employment growth in the Territory.

Further information and copies of the report are available from the Employment Division, Department of Business and Employment, on (08) 8999 7322.
