The 2012 Chief Minister’s Anzac Spirit Study Tour Award is now open.
Entries must be submitted to the student’s school by 10 August 2012 and the winners will be announced in October 2012.
To enter, students must address the following question:
What inspiration does the legend of the Anzac provide for youth in the 21st Century?
Entries must be submitted in one of the following formats:
- A written essay (no longer than 1000 words)
- A poem or song (song to be supplied on CD or DVD)
- A video presentation (4-5 minutes duration, supplied on CD or DVD)
- PowerPoint presentation (supplied on CD or DVD)
- Website (supplied on CD, DVD or as a web link).
Non-essay entries must be accompanied by a statement (maximum 500 words) addressing the following questions:
- How was the research conducted?
- Why did you choose this format?
- What are your conclusions on the theme?
- How is the research related to your chosen format or presentation?
Selection criteria
The selected entries will be judged on the following criteria:
- Historical quality (40%)
Evidence of research from appropriate sources
- Relationship to the theme (30%)
Entries must address all elements of the topic
- Personal interpretation (10%)
Students should apply the significance of the Anzac tradition and spirit to their own life and/or community
- Content and presentation (20%)
The entry must be original work of the student
Entries submitted in essay format should be logical, cohesive, typed/word processed and use appropriate language.
Entries submitted as a PowerPoint, song, video or website should demonstrate technical proficiency.
Selection process
Students submit an entry to their school. From those entries, each school short-lists two which are forwarded to the judging panel. The panel short-lists six entries overall and interviews those applicants to determine the final three students.
