All targets exceeded under Jobs NT 2010-12 - with six months to go!

Jobs NT was launched in May 2010 to support economic and social growth, preparing workers, employers and the wider community to be best placed to contribute to, and benefit from the opportunities associated with this growth.

As at 28 November 2011, with six months of the strategy still to go, all targets have been exceeded. These include the top level target and targets under three priority groups: Business and Employers, Indigenous Employment and Young People.

Jobs NT 2010-12 background

Jobs NT 2010-12 is a contemporary employment strategy that focuses on a workforce development framework. The strategy aimed to position Territorians to address the challenges and take advantage of the opportunities created by economic growth.

Jobs NT aligns with the Territory 2030 target to ensure the Territory labour force participation exceeds national participation rates. Feedback from consultation with 190 stakeholders throughout 2009 and targeted labour market research, such as the Workforce NT Report and the NT Occupational Shortage List, guided the development of Jobs NT.

What’s in Jobs NT?

Jobs NT has something that everyone can benefit from.  $312 million has been committed over the next three years to create a sustaining workforce, providing not only jobs, training, student support and infrastructure, but also targeted help for business, employers and job seekers.

There are initiatives for individuals, business and employers, Indigenous Territorians and young people.
