The Territory's education system provides high-quality choices from preschool to tertiary level in line with nationally recognised standards. Student-teacher ratios are among the lowest in Australia and the Territory's diverse population, including the high number of Indigenous students, provides a stimulating learning environment.

A range of tertiary courses, vocational education and training is available throughout the Northern Territory, including Charles Darwin University, Yirara College and the Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education.
