The Northern Territory Government is seeking feedback from Territorians to ensure the new Employment Strategy for 2012 to 2015 aligns with the Territory’s needs.
The Northern Territory is entering an exciting time on the job and business opportunity front. The Employment Strategy 2012-2015 aims to ensure the Territory is ready to meet the challenges this presents and the Employment Strategy Discussion Starter is the first step.
To help initiate the conversation, the discussion starter includes five focus areas: workforce planning and development, skilling the workforce, Indigenous employment participation, migration, and business and industry support.
Jobs NT was launched in May 2010 to prepare Territory workers, employers and the wider community to be best placed to contribute to, and benefit from, the opportunities associated with economic growth.
Targets were set under three priority groups: Business and Employers, Indigenous Employment and Young People.
With six months of the strategy still to go, all targets have been exceeded. These include growing the size and skills of the Territory workforce, 3000 Indigenous Territorians commencing employment and an increase of 5% in the number of young Territorians achieving a Year 12 or equivalent Certificate II qualification.
