The purpose of the Regional Economic Development fund (REDF) is to assist with the development of business and industry capability in all regions of the NT. The (REDF) stimulates and supports regional economic development through locally-based initiatives.
All funding will be subject to the approval of the Minister for Regional Development. Preference will be given to applications where 50% of the funding is provided by cash or in-kind support provided by the applicant or by other sources such as the Commonwealth Government, private enterprise and philanthropic organisations.
An annual budget for the REDF will be set by the Department. Available funds will determine the amount offered to successful applicants. Accordingly, there may be occasions where funding offers are for less than was requested. Grants to a maximum of $25,000 may be available, and variations may be negotiated. Funding will not be recurrent, unless at the Minister’s discretion.
Grants will be available to bring regional economic development concepts to the ‘ready for business’ stage. Further support may be available after this initial phase. Examples of areas where funding may be made available include:
Incorporated bodies and / or legal entities.
Applications will be accepted from not-for-profit community organisations/groups based in the Northern Territory.
Applications involving private enterprise organisations will be considered where it can be clearly demonstrated that benefits will accrue to the wider community.
In the first instance, potential applicants should contact the Program Manager, who will supply further details – telephone 08 8999 5133.
