OUR PRIORITIES

Regional Growth – Sharing in Our Prosperity
|
- Support and assist cultural tourism
- Develop specific art tours incorporating existing art centres in communities
- Develop a RCW tourism map for the region
- Hold an Indigenous Economic Development Conference with a focus on the RCW late 2009
- Investigate development of a network of good gravel roads to and from communities along the RCW

Investing in Our Territory
|
- Investigate developing an application from the Future Fund or other government funding programs for bush; with joint partners (Voyages, Santos, CLC, other communities and government) for the delivery of affordable voice and broadband services.
- Develop telecommunications signage along the RCW declaring type and range of coverage
- Extend the Larapinta trail from Mount Sonder to Tyler’s Pass, Gosse Bluff and Haast Bluff Region
- Develop 4x4 routes in the region with supporting cultural activities
- Investigate the feasibility of a mechanics workshop and service station along the RCW as traffic increases
- Investigate solar energy opportunities along the RCW in conjunction with Desert Knowledge Australia
- Develop a road maintenance program on the link between Hermannsburg and Glen Helen

Developing Our Workforce
|
- Align the school curriculum with tourism activity – tour guiding through VET
- Access the Employing Indigenous Territorians – Business Support Program
- Work with local schools and Yirrara College to improve transition into local jobs with a tourism emphasis

Improving Our Productivity
|
- Work with the Australian Government and their contracted Job Network Providers to skill people in identified jobs along the RCW
