We will develop economic opportunities that are inclusive of the whole community for current and future generations.

OUR MISSION

Is to create a sustainable economic future through:

  • Strategic planning for residential and commercial land use
  • A focus on promotion and improving tourism opportunities and assets
  • Improving and developing our infrastructure assets
OUR PRIORITIES


Infrastructure

  • Complete audit of infrastructure assets in Timber Creek
  • Investigation into existing essential service provision ie sewerage services


Land Release

  • Develop a whole of town concept plan for future strategic land use
  • Release of residential blocks of various sizes
  • Identification and release of land suitable for commercial development


Tourism

  • Complete audit of tourism assets in Timber Creek and VRD Region
  • Investigate a Rural Transaction Centre and associated small enterprises (café, internet facility, tourist information)
  • Encourage longer stays through the creation of a tick box document for visitors to the Region to highlight local features and points of interest.
  • Improve visitor experiences through the creation and completion of a visitor survey of Timber Creek experiences – collate comments and create recommendations for improvement and growth
  • Take advantage of regional promotion through:
  • Investigating links to The Savanna Way and existing identified tourism opportunities
  • Creating a calendar of regional festivals and plan future events to take advantage of cross promotional opportunities and “festival following” travellers
  • Liaison with surrounding regions in the NT and WA to promote events


Housing

  • Encourage private investment in accommodation suitable for employees ie multiple dwelings to improve staff retention rates
  • Encourage additional GEH to be provided to increase staff recruitment and retention
  • Encourage development that is suitable for environment and existing essential services
