What is the ILC?

The Indigenous Land Corporation (ILC) is a Commonwealth statutory Authority with a seven member board, which is appointed by the Minister for Families, Housing Community Services and Indigenous Affairs.

The Chairperson and at least four other members must be Indigenous.The Board makes all policy and land purchase decisions.

What the ILC does

The ILC's main functions are to assist Indigenous people to

  • * acquire land, and
  • * manage Indigenous-held land throughout Australia

Closing the Gap in real life outcomes between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians is a national priority and a national responsibility. The Department of Planning and Infrastructure

The Department of Planning and Infrastructure’s Construction Division manages the design, procurement and construction of Northern Territory Government assets such as roads, schools and other public infrastructure.

We have a dedicated Indigenous Employment and Training Unit. Staff in the area assist local Indigenous people in gaining employment and training with contractors, work with contractors to encourage them to employ Indigenous people and are currently developing a department-wide Indigenous Employment and Training Policy.
