Policy and Services Division
Role
The work of the Division is grouped into three areas. Regional resources are as indicated, otherwise our people are located in Darwin at Berrimah Farm:
Sustainable Primary Industries Development
To support the sustainable economic development of Northern Territory primary industries through strategic policy development and management of major projects and national policy reform processes.
Specialist Business and Information Systems
Provides specialist support services to Primary Industries, Fisheries, other government agencies and to the community generally in the areas of specialist IT business systems and technical and information services, including biometrics.
Sustainable Business Development
To meet obligations under the InterGovernmental Agreement with the Australian Government to deliver the Advancing Australian Agriculture - FarmBis program to promote sustainable businesses (finishing 30 June 2008), to deliver the Northern Territory Pastoral Water Enhancement Scheme and drought assistance (Northern Territory Drought Assistance Arrangements and Exceptional Circumstances)and to increase opportunities for Northern Territory food businesses.
Functions
| (a) | To provide strategic and policy advice to:

| (b) | To facilitate industry development by publishing and disseminating consistent and client-focused technically and scientifically accurate information. |
| (c) | To assist in the initiation, project planning and ongoing maintenance of data management projects consistent with the Department of Regional Development, Primary Industry, Fisheries and Resources (DRDPIFR) Information Management Strategy. |
| (d) | To enhance and maintain the efficiency and professional quality standards of experimental and survey design, data analysis, reporting and publication of research, development and extension projects. |
| (e) | To provide effective and timely reference and information services to meet the needs of DRDPIFR staff and other clients. |
| (f) | To achieve the above within the Divisional Budget. |
