Breaking News: Mango Leaf Hopper detected in Pine Creek and Katherine
The build-up has started in the Top End, night temperatures and humidity are rising. The fruit development from the first flowering is encouraging but owing to the light flowering will not be of any great volume. There should be a steady flow of fruit into the market from the last week in September. The fruit set from the later flowering is almost complete but its a bit early to tell how much will hold to maturity.
RDPIFR has collected flowering data from growers again this year to provide crop timing forecasts and predicted dates for dry matter testing of maturity across the growing regions. The information is available on our web site throughout the season with fortnightly updates.
Now is the ideal time for growers to assess their labour, logistics and infrastructure needs for the season and to be talking with their wholesalers, labour providers, transport operators and packing sheds etc.
The Crops, Forestry and Horticulture Division wishes mango growers, packers and other service providers all the best for the 2005 mango season.
Stay tuned for updates on our website.
