11 horses left Beaudesert in south east Queensland to travel to the Northern Territory.

Advice of confirmed equine influenza in a quarantine station in Sydney.
Saturday 25 August
9.30am
National advice of confirmed equine influenza at a pleasure horse stable in Sydney.
 
midday
10 horses from south east Queensland intercepted at Katherine. One horse had already been unloaded in Tennant Creek. Due to low risk of exposure to infection, all horses were quarantined and observed for 14 days. 
 
1pm
National agreement to establish a national horse standstill with legislative underpinning as soon as possible.
 
4pm
Suspicion of disease at a horse event at Warwick in Queensland.
Monday 27 August
1 pm
Horse standstill was declared by the Minister for Primary Industry and gazetted (S22 27 August 2007). Media activity by the Minister and Chief Veterinary Officer.

Newspaper advertisements placed in Northern Territory newspapers regarding the horse standstill.
Posters placed at horse stables, stock agents and horse feed stalls regarding the standstill.

Thursday 30 August
3 pm
National decision to revoke the national horse standstill in non-affected states including the Northern Territory.
Friday 31 August
1 pm
Minister for Primary Industry revokes the horse standstill in the Northern Territory with TV and radio interviews and press release.
Saturday 1 September
 
Newspaper advertisements placed in Northern Territory newspapers revoking the horse standstill.
Posters placed at horse stables, stock agents and horse feed stalls revoking the standstill.
Friday 7 September
9 pm
Advice from Queensland that a horse moved to the Northern Territory on 22 August was in contact with test positive horses detected at Julia Creek and Gordonvale in north Queensland on 7 September. There were no clinical symptoms in the test positive horses.
Saturday 8 September
10 am
Advice from Queensland that the 12 horses imported on 22 August were in contact. Queensland authorities re-sampling and retesting the test positive horses.
 
11 am
As a precaution, veterinary officers and stock inspectors contacted the owners of the 12 horses that the quarantine would be reimposed pending clarification of the disease situation in north Queensland and a negative test for antibodies. The test was initiated as surprisingly the test positive horses in north Queensland did not exhibit any clinical symptoms.
 
 
Queensland authorities advised that a 12th horse was in the load and had been dropped of at a roadhouse. The horse was located and had a negative blood test.
 
5 pm
ABC TV and ABC radio interviews by the Chief Veterinary Officer.
Sunday 9 September
 
Preliminary testing did not confirm the test positive results of the horses in north Queensland.

Monday 10 September
 
Four of the eleven imported horses had already been tested negative last week. Three horses in the Darwin region were sampled.
Tuesday 11 September
 
Three horses in the Darwin region were tested negative. Four horses in the Katherine regions were sampled.
Wednesday 12 September
 
Four horses from the Katherine region were tested negative.
