Bovine Syndromic Surveillance System (BOSSS)

BOSSS is a new web-based program to help extensive cattle producers maintain a detailed herd health record on their property and aid in the diagnosis of disease. Producers enter informaiton about a cattle disease event on-line, and BOSSS generates a list of possible diseases. Digital images and paddock GPS points can be included in the report. The system can also guide producers through a post-mortem examination and sample collection. Producers are also recommended to report any sickness and death in livestock to regional Animal Biosecurity staff.
