The Northern Territory Geological Survey (NTGS) actively develops geoscientific and index databases that are searchable online.
STRIKE - Spatial Territory Resource Information Kit for Exploration - for a web mapping application for accessing geoscientific data.
GIWS - Geophysical Image Web Server - for a spatial index to NT Geological Survey airborne geophysical survey data.
Mineral Exploration Reports (MEX) - (formerly known as Mineral Industry Reports Management System (IRMS)) for finding publically available mineral exploration company reports and data eg Annual, Relinquishment and Final Reports.
Petroleum Exploration Reports (PEX) - (formerly known as Petroleum Industry Reports Management System (IRMS)) for finding publically available petroleum exploration company reports and data eg Well Completion Reports, Seismic Data.
COREDAT - for a record of on and offshore petroleum well and mineral drill hole core and cutting samples.
Exploration News - for Northern Territory exploration and mining industry news with content sourced from industry journals, media releases and stock exchange announcements.
InfoCentre Catalogue - (formerly GEKO) for geoscience reference books, journals, explanatory notes and maps, records, technical notes, newspapers and other publications.
MODAT - Mineral Occurrence Database - distributed upon request on CD (DIP 003). The database currently includes more than 2800 metallic and non-metallic mineral occurrences.
A subset of MODAT is searchable via STRIKE.
Minerals Geochemical Data - NTGS compiles geochemical data from statutory mineral exploration reports, stock exchange announcements, university theses and other sources of public information. This is augmented by Geoscience Australia geochemical data and geochemistry obtained from NTGS projects. Selected stream sediment, soil (loam), rock chip, whole rock and downhole information is available over most of the NT.
These data can be accessed online via STRIKE or from the CD Digital Information package DIP001 which is available free of charge. Please contact the Minerals ans Energy InfoCentre for data.
It is important to note that these available data are NOT complete. Legacy data is only normally acquired on a campaign basis in areas where NTGS is active, so the spatial cover is incomplete. Also, much of the early data only exists in hardcopy or is too poorly located to enable digital capture.
Diamonds Exploration Data - A separate diamond and diamond indicator mineral database current to April 2005, is available via STRIKE or on CD as DIP006 which is available free of charge from the Minerals ans Energy InfoCentre.
