Clients and Visitors

The Centre provides an integrated information and publication distribution service to staff, and mining and petroleum industry clients. Tertiary students and members of the public are welcome to use the library for reference purposes during opening hours.

Borrowing Library Resources

Loan requests should be placed through the library of a company, institution or local public library service (known as an inter-library loan). Most material can be borrowed using this inter-library loan procedure. Local industry clients in Darwin and Alice Springs may register to borrow material directly from the InfoCentre.

As part of the Minerals and Energy InfoCentre, the library collection has become a rich resource and valuable asset to departmental staff and clients since it commenced operation in 1979. The Darwin and Alice Springs collections include material on the geology of the Northern Territory, mineralogy, oil and gas, minerals and petroleum exploration, earth sciences, Northern Territory mining history, occupational health and safety in the mining and petroleum industries and mine site rehabilitation. Some material on the Northern Territory economy and infrastructure is also held. All books, journal titles, maps and departmental publications are included in the InfoCentre catalogue. The physical collections are supplemented by access to online resources and databases.
