Q: 2. Do I need a fossicking permit and how do I apply one?
A: To fossick in the Northern Territory you must hold a Fossicker's Permit issued under the Northern Territory Mining Act.
| A Fossickers Permit must be carried at all times when fossicking and produced on request of an authorised representative of the Northern Territory Government, the person or organisation on whose land you are fossicking or, the holder of an Exploration Licence, or Mining Tenement for the land on which you are fossicking. |

A: The Northern Territory Geological Survey (NTGS) has a listing of current projects with approximate release dates. They are categorised under the following headings:

A: Direct online enquiry of the Drill Core Database through this web site. Access to view or sample the drill core is by enquiry to the Managers of the Alice Springs and Darwin Core Facilities.

Q: 6. How do I search for information on previous exploration?
A: There are many ways to search on previous exploration, depending on what it is you are looking for.
a) Searching the Titles Information System (TIS).
b) Searching the Industry Reports Management System (IRMS) online for open file Minerals or Petroleum exploration reports to research previous exploration activities.
c) Visit the Minerals and Energy Information Centre and browse through the archived hardcopies of tenement maps.
Q: 7. How do I use (STRIKE) Spatial Territory Resource Information Kit for Exploration?
A: STRIKE has an online getting started help page to guide users on what is contained under each of the layers and the function of the toolbars.

A: You can download our latest product catalogue or by viewing the latest publications online.

A: Publications through the Minerals and Energy Information Centre are free of charge and can be ordered through Geoscience Information (geoscience.info@nt.gov.au).
