The Australian Mud Crab Fishery Research and Management Forum was established as part of the Fisheries Research and Development Corporation project: Mud Crab Workshop 2007: Revision of the National Strategy for Mud Crab Research.

The aim of the Forum is to provide:

a) a communication network for Australian mud crab fishers, researchers and managers

b) contacts for domestic fishing peak bodies, industry associations and research and management organisations overseeing mud crab fisheries

c) a bibliography of past and present research on mud crabs in Australia

d) information on the commercial, recreational and indigenous harvest of mud crabs in Australia (including fishing regulations)
