|Fishery Status Reports 2011
We are pleased to release this report on the status of fisheries in the Northern Territory. A key role of the Fisheries Division of the Department of Primary Industry and Fisheries (NT Fisheries) is to ensure the ecologically sustainable development of our fisheries and aquatic resources. In undertaking this role NT Fisheries works in partnership with all of the fishing industry sectors to assist wild fisheries and aquaculture development and facilitate access and sharing of fish resources between Aboriginal, recreational and commercial users.
|Annual Report 2011-12 (Department of Resources)
Our Annual Report describes the achievements, performance and priorities of the department's staff during 2011-12. It also corroborates our mission to work with our partners to stimulate and sustain our resource-based industries throughout the Territory.
|Survey of Recreational Fishing in the NT
In 2009-10 a recreational fishing survey was carried out. This report represents the third comprehensive assessment of recreational fishing in the Northern Territory (NT). In each of these studies, the main survey instrument has been the same: an off-site telephone/diary survey with stratified random sampling from telephone listings in the White Pages and expansion of all survey results to Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) estimates of the non-indigenous resident population. Fishing activity by interstate and overseas visitors has also been assessed in these surveys.
