The Harvard Project provides sound pointers
for those working in the Australian Indigenous public policy
area but good governance will not emerge if those principles
are merely translated for an Australian audience. This paper
argues that there are peculiarly Australian factors which
have not been paid sufficient attention in most discussions
of good governance in Australia. Among these are the development
of a competent managerial and leadership cadre in Indigenous
organisations and the development of what has been called
“ethical capacity”. |
