Alice Springs Economic Profile

The Alice Springs Economic profile is the first ever comprehensive economic report about Alice Springs. It is based on research, analysis and survey information.

The profile is a joint initiative of the Alice Springs Economic Development Committee (EDC) and the Department of Regional Development, Primary Industry, Fisheries and Resources (DRDPIFR).

The profile is written in plain English and contains information from:

• the collection of survey data from Alice Springs Business Survey (November 2007)
• the collection of Census data, tax data and other data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

The Alice Springs Business Survey results outlined in the profile indicate that:

• 79% of businesses were confident of business prospects over the next 12 months
• 74% expect an increase in value of sales
• 61% expected profitability to increase
• 80% of businesses source goods and services from Alice Springs
• 97% of the customer base is in Alice Springs.
