Industry Development Support Program

As part of its economic development strategies, the Northern Territory Government seeks to engage with peak representative bodies to grow their industry and business sectors and to optimise dialogue between industry and Government.

It is recognised that in this dialogue, representative bodies act as a consolidated voice, ensuring the views of their membership are properly considered. Where mutual objectives for economic growth are agreed, representative bodies work in partnership with Government to achieve industry development outcomes. While it is recognised that not all representative bodies need, or seek, funding or other forms of support from Government, some organisations may require Government support until their industry and business sectors mature and they become self-supporting. Support strategies should be flexible and determined by the scope, professionalism and economic potential of the sector and the organisation representing it.

These guidelines are provided to:

  • identify eligibility criteria that need to be met before Government assistance could be considered
  • explain the processes involved in making submissions for assistance.

Government provides assistance in a range of ways including operational and project funding, in-kind assistance and sponsorship. In order to achieve the optimal mix of assistance resulting in the best economic outcomes for the Territory, individual requests for assistance are considered in the context of a whole-of-Government approach to industry development.
