Foreword

Asia is of great importance to the Northern Territory and Territorians.

Asian countries are the Territory's closest neighbours, provide many of our largest markets and contribute to our cultural and social diversity. The Territory's future lies in Asia.

Therefore, it is important that we are deliberate in our relationships with Asia. While the depth and richness of the Northern Territory's past contact with Asia is acknowledged, it is now time for a fresh and strategic look at the pattern of our relationships, how they can be improved and what they can contribute to the Territory's strategic goals.

This plan will guide the Territory Government in working with the community and business to achieve their objectives in Asia.
