Building Northern Territory Industry Participation is an integral part of the Government's commitment to Territory-wide economic development under its Economic Development Strategy, Building a Better Territory. It embodies a commitment to regional and Indigenous economic development and to building Territory capability.

Essentially it aims to give competitive Territory businesses the opportunity to participate in the future growth of the Territory and to enhance business and industry capability.

A central component of Building Northern Territory Industry Participation is the Government's commitment to use Industry Participation Plans to assist its decision making in relation to Government purchasing and investment.

Industry Participation Plans will enable major project proponents and developers to maximise opportunities to utilise local suppliers, services and labour and should assist the capacity and capability of businesses to compete globally.

Territory businesses have consistently shown that they can compete on price, quality and after sales service. Businesses will need to continue to strive for the highest quality and reliability in order to be internationally competitive. They will need to market and promote themselves, to form relationships with clients and other firms to win work, to better understand what value means for clients and to respond to that need for value.
