Building Advisory Committee
The Building Advisory Committee is a statutory body established by the Building Act. Its major role is to maintain industry input into the Building Control Process in the Northern Territory, by
- advising the Minister on the administration of the Building Act;
- investigating and reporting to the Minister on all matters related to this Act referred to it by the Minister;
- accrediting building products, construction methods, designs, components or systems (Deemed to Comply Manual); and
- such other functions as are imposed on it by legislation or as directed by the Minister.
Meetings
The Committee meets approximately every four weeks. Enquiries about meeting dates should be addressed to the Registrar.
DTCM - Retesting of Metal Roofing Products
As per the BCA, new testing requirements for metal roofing products were introduced in the NT from 1 May 2009. As a result of these changes, all metal roofing products not tested under the Low High Low system were withdrawn from the NT DTCM with effect from 1 May 2009.
The Building Advisory Committee is currently considering several applications for metal roofing products which have been tested using the Low High Low system and which may be added to the manual in the future. It is recommended that you refer to the DTCM page of this website on a regular basis for updated information.
Please note that there is no regulatory requirement for roofing products to be listed in the DTCM. If manufacturers can provide evidence that their product has been tested using the Low High Low system, together with tables for spans, fixings etc, then their product can be accepted for use.
